Sunday’s tough 80 km Gippsland Hill Climb went to national professional road champion Dave Macfarlane from Leongatha.  Run under handicap conditions, Macfarlane scored comfortably after the strong scratch bunch picked up the 16 min limit markers at the base of Noojee’s Red Hill before the final climb to Neerim Junction.  Kestle was the first Warragul rider to finish in fourth place, whilst Nobelius rode very well to take sixth.  Two excellent rides came from limit boys, Henry and Ian Fromholtz who held out gamely after a long ride on their own whilst Radcliffe turned in a gutsy performance to complete the grueling course.  Leongatha’s Steven West had a great battle with Travis in the 15 km junior event before gaining the upper hand in a close final sprint.  Fleming and Keeble also had a close tussle for third and fourth with Boxall finishing well for fifth ahead of Leongatha’s Alistair Le Serve.

The Gippsland Road Championships are to be held next Sunday June 6th at Leongatha commencing at 11.00am from McMillan.
