Print Solutions@Work Handicap

07/09/2013

By Rob Monk

Everyone who raced in tough conditions on Saturday in race 2 of the PrintSolution@Work Handicap Series, deserves a special mention. Here it is.

Grant

Neilsen

The winner. He’s hard to handicap as he races rarely and trains alone. He was very strong in the 10 minute bunch.

Colin

Manintveld

A surprise second place in the race. Started in 10 minute bunch and packed a punch in the sprint.

Shane

Wakker

Pre-race favourite. Given the winning mark of 10 minutes and needs to learn how to win. Getting better every week.

Andrew

Jackson

Just hung onto the 10 minute bunch to take out fourth.

Cy

Monk

Started on scratch and took out fastest time. Caught all but the 4 winners by the bell but couldn’t continue as he’d shattered the rest of the scratch men.

Jayden

Manintveld

Sprinted well after sitting on for most of the final lap. Second strongest of the scratch bunch.

Geoff

Thompson

Started off 5.5 minutes and didn’t miss many turns. Still hard to beat in the bunch finishes.

Paul

Yeatman

Started off 3 minutes and was always prepared to go to the front. Strongest in his bunch.

John

Davies

First race with the club for a long time. Started off 3 minutes and was willing to chase the scratch men down on the last lap when they flew by.

Rob

Monk

Limped around with the 5.5 minute bunch not doing much.

Graeme

Parker

Started off scratch but they shelled him near the end of lap 3. Not his best day.

Bruce

Staben

Promoted to the 5.5 minute bunch and was not out of his depth. Lost contact with the group on lap 4 after not missing a turn. Needs to watch Thommo and Monk and learn how to “sit on.”

Peter

Bailey

Hung onto the 5.5 minute group doggedly. He has been better.

Paul

Kennedy

Started off limit and needs more time. Deceptively slow.

Peter

Whelan

In a selfless act he chased down the late attack of the scratch bunch. One of the best in the 3 minute group.

Darren

Cook

Returning to racing the handicapper did him no favours placing him with the strong 3 minute bunch. He was not with them after lap 3.

John

Davine

Lost contact with the winning 10 minute bunch early.

Rachel

Dawson

First female finisher. Was handicapped by having to ride with Paul Kennedy for 3 laps. Needs some more Warragirls in her bunch next week.

Rob

Waddel

Needed the ride. Will get fitter quickly.

Glen

Marriott

Pathetic. Started with scratch. Dropped before the end of lap one. Needs to start with scratch again next week to see if he can make a better fist of it.

Next week’s race is at 2.00pm at Darnum.
